Why can't I install Splashtop Business client on my PC?

With a recent Windows update, installing the Splashtop Business app on your PC fails to complete. Our Engineering team is aware of the issue and is working on resolving it. 

UPDATE: INSTALL VERSION 2.6.5.7 OR LATER

Here are 2 options to work around the issue for now:

I. Use Splashtop Business for Chrome

Splashtop Business Chrome version provides the same functionality as the desktop version does.

Please go to this link from the Chrome browser to download the Chrome app.  When you wish to connect to a remote machine, login to your Splashtop account, my.splashtop.com on the Chrome browser and click on the "Connect" button for the computer you want to remote into.  (How do I connect to my computers from the web console?)

II. Remove the Windows update which is causing this issue

  1. Please go to Control Panel / Programs & Features.
  2. Hit View installed updates option on the side panel. (please see attachment.)
  3. Search for kb3072630 on installed updates page and uninstall it.
  4. Restart your PC. Then install the Splashtop Business client.
  5. After it is installed, you could re-install the kb3072630 update

    Phil sent me a link to this post, after I found the exact same issue in installing a recent copy of the business app on a Win 7 pro 64bit computer, that had just had all windows updates installed.  Sure enough the update was there, uninstalling it and rebooting the machine, then allowed me to successfully install the app again.  Thanks again Microsoft!

    Locating the Splashtop Business app...

    The Splashtop Business app must be installed on this computer for this to work.

    Please allow pop-ups for this site so the Splashtop app can be launched.

    It is a different issue from the one in this article. 

    Do you have the Splashtop Business client installed on the computer getting issue? If you still see the issue after the client installed, please change a browser to see if it could work to trigger the Splashtop Business client. What browser do you currently use and see the issue?

    This isn't tested yet, but Microsoft's KB says you can modify/create the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer\RemappedElevatedProxiesPolicy" with a DWORD value of 1 to disable the update, then set it back to 0 once the installation is complete to re-enable it. It's a bit less work than removing and reinstalling the update.

    The latest version of the streamer and Splashtop Business client do not have installation issue. Please install them on your computers. (http://www.splashtop.com/downloads)

    Trying to install the latest  Splashtop_Business_Win_v3.0.6.1 and none of the proposed solutions are working.

    I keep getting the error 

    Product: Splashtop Business -- Error 1719.Windows Installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support personnel to verify that it is properly registered and enabled.

    @David,

    It seems the Windows installer service is not running normally on the culprit computer. There are also forum posts on Microsoft official forum taking about this. Please refer to the one below to see if it helps resolve the issue:
