If you are receiving this error message with Splashtop Streamer on a Mac, your disk permissions may be corrupted (specifically, the file permissions of some IPC socket files in /tmp).

Please do the following:

1. Remove Streamer by clicking uninstall Streamer script.
2. Run "Repair Disk Permissions".
3. Restart the Mac.
4. Re-install Streamer.

If it is El Capitan (10.11) or later version Mac OS running on the Mac, please follow the steps below:

1. open Terminal app
2. execute command: sudo rm -r /tmp/com.splashtop.*
3. execute command: sudo chmod +t /tmp
4. reboot computer

Note:

If it still does not work, there is another cause. Please use the uninstall the streamer script attached in streamer dmg file to uninstall the streamer, then re-install it again. It will help resolve the issue.

    I have followed the steps to add the ports on the firewall but this has not resolved the issue

    @ Jsboynes,

    So you have the streamer installed on your Windows 10 PC? Where did you see the error message? Could we have a screenshot? And when you saw the message, was the Windows PC still showing online in the computer list of your Business app?

    Yeah I installed it on my new windows 10 pc. The error message is on the splashtop program/app on the status section. On the mobile app it shows the computer with the satellite icon showing. I am on the same network as the device and I have tried this on another network also. I am using avg internet security and like I mentioned I have followed the steps to open the ports and add the extra applications to the firewall. It worked no problem on the previous laptop. Unfortunately I am unable to upload any screen shots to the comment. Thanks

    @ Jsboynes,

    Though the port is opened on the firewall, there might be other programs/services occupying the port. We suggest that you could change a port to use, you could configure it under the advanced tab of the streamer. And please don't forget to add the new setup port to open list on your firewall.

    I've already tried to change the port number but that did not work either thanks

    I am having the same issue - nothing else is using the port, it is open on the firewall, and I've done a complete removal (using your utility) and reinstalled and rebooted. Still getting the message.

    @Cisarpavel,

    The link above is beta 3.0.8.3. Please use official 3.1.0.0 streamer on the computer getting issue then see if it resolves the issue.

    3.1.0.0 fixed my issue with win 8. will the updates work now, i have been using the update function on the app and it never said a new one was available. Thanks.

    @Wmercer,

    Sorry for the confusion. 3.1.0.0 or later version of the streamer supports auto-update function. For older version streamers (3.0.8.3 or older), we will push new version streamer to the update server in near future so they could be updated by clicking check for update function.

    Hope this helps.

    I started having this same issue in the past few weeks or so - uninstalling and reinstalling and rebooting etc have all made no difference.

    I have not made any changes to my network or router - though my ISP is in the process of changing from Time Warner Roadrunner to Spectrum so perhaps they are doing something.

    Or could have something to do with recent Mac OS X upgrades as it seems to be affecting my Macs but not my Windows systems. with the 10.12.x systems more likely to be affected and the 10.10.x and 10.7.x systems unaffected on the same LAN.

    @Mattwolanski,

    The streamer should work on Mac OS 10.12.x. We will need your help collect logs so we can address the cause. Please click the open log folder button under the advanced tab on the streamer UI to collect logs, then file a ticket with logs to us.

    Thank you!
