  • @Mbrie1usa,

At this time, remove or log out the streamer is the only way to unlink a computer from your team.

The under development remote log-off feature would help in this case which you could forcedly log off a streamer remotely on the web portal.

  • So if you have a PC that has crashed, you are not able to remove the PC from the list?

  • @Collin,

You could delete an offline computer from the list. But the computer is still in your team.

Uninstall or log out the streamer is to unlink a computer from your team.

A crashed computer should show offline in the computer list so you are able to delete it. You could uninstall the streamer after the computer recovers if you want to unlink it.

  • I have a workstation from a client that is no longer with us. We should not (and will not) log into this computer to uninstall or log out of the Splashtop account. We also, will not contact the user to do this. We should be able to remove it from our account and disable Splashtop remotely without accessing the computer. If one of our techs accidentally accesses the computer, we would have problems. Thanks!

  • Agree with prior comment: there should be a method to disable/remove computers from the account without having to access the computer to do so.

Situation: a client who has severed contact with me, I can no longer legally access the computer to remove the streamer, and client ignores/refuses to do so at my request. There needs to be a "nuclear option" to remove from computers that cannot be accessed any longer.

  • Currently on a trial and immediately came up against this issue whilst testing the functionality of the product. Not such an issue for us as all support for the same company but really not good for companies who would be using for various clients. The ability to remove via the admin GUI is a must although I understand this would leave redundant software on the users machine indefinitely as does LMI.

It should absolutely possible to delete Computer from the Web administration. We have a crashed PC and so we could not remove the streamer and so the old one is always at the computer list in adminstartion!

  • I support multiple clients and when updating to new systems I need to remove the "old" entry in the list.  Usually this happens due to a crash, so the option to remove or uninstall from the "old" machine is physically impossible.  Like the option to "Add a note" there should be a "Delete this computer".

    Thanks,

    John Farrar

  • I also have the need to do this.  We have the streamer deployed on a client's 6 servers that just canceled the contract and locked us out.  Does this mean that those 6 servers will always count towards our number of deployed computers?

  • @all,

Remotely logout a streamer feature will be soon available. This would work to remove the computer from your team.

  • Please, this feautre would be great, I'm a business remote support user and we have a large license.  I have a PC that appears as online, that 100% does not have the streamer on it so I need to remove it immediatly.

  • I hope that this availability is coming soon, the only way I can see to remove the machines that we no longer have access to and are live is to delete my splashtop account and either create a new one or move to a different vendor that has this functionality.

  • Are you still on target to release this feature by the end of this month?  This is a make or break feature for us and will determine if we switch from Logmein.

  • @Jruggieri,

Yes, this should be soon available, before end of April.

  • Hi Jruggieri!

Thats very good news!  I'm looking forward to the ability to REMOTELY log-out and remove a PC/Mac that is no longer under my support. Put another way: disconnect a client PC/Mac without having to log in remotely to that client PC/Mac.

However, it would be unacceptable if the client's Splashtop Streamer must first be updated in order to perform this removal (without the client's participation) from either the Business management app or the web-based management console.

    Thanks very much!
    Peter

  • @all,

The "delete computer" function was deployed a few days ago. You'll see it under the gear icon on your web console at my.splashtop.com.

This function works regardless of streamer version, i.e. no need to update streamer in order for the "delete computer" function to work.

Please let us know if you run into any issues.

  • I've deleted the computer but need to add it again.. I get a message from the streamer software " Unable to Login. The computer has been removed from its original team"

I've tried reinstalling the streamer, no luck..

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, Rob

We have the same problem... "Unable to Login. The computer has been removed from its original team".

Please post the solution here. Then make that error message a searchable knowledgebase article so people can find it and fix it for themselves. Thanks!

  • @Remoteaccess,

Using version 3.0.8.2 or later version streamaer will resolve the issue. It will be released later today.

You could use below link to download the package before it is officially available:

  • 'Splashtop support', please confirm that I understand...
Splashtop has updated it's product design to allow the administrators of that product (us) to remotely disconnect a PC only if we first access and then upgrade that PC.  That is an improvement, but not the more comprehensive one I hoped for.  There must be an administrative way to disconnect and old PC that is no longer running or even just accessible in the normal course of business.  Can you advise us what it is?

  • @Ron_ellis,

Does it mean you want to remove a PC from you team since you no longer need to access to the computer?

If that is the case, the "delete computer" function will work in this case. Under the computers tab on the web portal you could click the gear like icon at right end side of the computer profile you want to delete, then use delete function.

    Hope this helps.

  • The critical desire result is that the Splashtop license is recovered...

My understanding is that just deleting the appearance  under the computers tab does not return the license unless you happen to be deleting the latest-and-greatest license version (e.g. 3.0.8.2 or later)...Am I wrong?

  • @Ron_ellis,

It is the backend update adding this function, not the streamer. So you could use delete computer function to recover your computer license now no matter what version of the streamer is on the target computer.

Please find "all computers" tab under Management on the web portal so you could browse all the team computers, then you could decide which to delete.

  • @Ron_ellis,

Just to clarify and confirm, using the "delete computer" function on the web console indeed will remove the computer from your account, thus freeing up a "license" to add another computer to your account.
