Remote Printing

As best I can tell, the host machine cannot print to printer attached to the local machine like I can do via an RDP session.  Is this in the works?  Can I do this now?  Please advise.

  • Hugely important and do not understand why Splashtop is not addressing. Their competitor LogMeIn has this feature.

  • Yes this is hugely important!!  I need this option to be able to print remotely now as I switched just now from LogMein and I have no problem printing remotely

    Please address this soon.

    Thank you

  • Check this out:

    http://lifehacker.com/5652311/print-files-on-your-printer-from-any-phone-or-remote-computer-via-dropbox

If both PCs are yours, you can install dropbox on both and run the VBS script as a startup item. Then print or save to a PDF on the remote PC and save the PDF to the printing folder in dropbox.

  • Or setup your local printer as a google cloud printer and use this:

  • Google Cloud Print is perfect

  • Google Cloud Print is kind of a pain, but it is a decent workaround until Splashtop figures out how to include remote print in their system.

  • another +Bump for this. for a business product, SplashTop is feeling more and more like a Personal product.  I REALLY want to dump LMI, but the feature set is just not there yet.  My LMI Central sub expires in October, and I will not be staying with them.  I wish SplashTop would step it up...they'd make so much money from the LMI Exodus

  • another +Bump.  We support many clients that use our accounting system software and very often require to print a report locally so we can determine problems with printer settings or data content etc.  This is a very important feature for our support team.

  • We have been implementing Google Cloud Print until Splashtop adds this feature. It takes more work, but it is usable.

  • It's good, just not all there yet. I would very much like this feature as well.

  • Does anyone from Splashtop read and reply?  It would be most helpful to know the timeline for remote print implementation

  • This is a big feature and a major selling point to convince current logmein users to switch over to Splashtop

  • @all,

Remote printing is planned and is in our high priority list.

We recently are focusing on releasing new generation Streamer. (Already in beta stage and you could refer to https://support-splashtopbusiness.splashtop.com/entries/62163074 for more detailed information and what it improves.) After that, there are couple of features we plan to roll in such as remote printing, remote reboot, attended support Streamer...etc.

  • @Support,

V3 streamer and Splashtop Business for Remote Support are both just released. Remote print should be next in the line.

How close is the remote printing?  It has been 2 months again since the last update and have not heard any definite dates on the next version with the printing included.  I am losing customers back to Logmein because of this feature alone.

  • Just got a notice today that Remote Print has been enabled in the latest build!

Update both the streamer and client software to the latest version 3.0.2.1

Then on the streamer got to "Preferences" "Settings" and click "Install Printer Driver"

Then click yes on the windows install prompt.

Then when you choose to print on the remote, you pick "Spashtop Remote Printer"

Then on your local machine, you will see the document pop up on your screen and you choose the local printer you would like to print it on.

    Working great!!!

    Thanks Splashtop!!!
