2 factor authentication

PLEASE the only draw back for my purchasing and recommending splashtop for my business and for other Point of sale dealers is the lack of 2 factor authentication. I would love if you would integrate google authenticator or at the very least email a 1 time use multi-digit passcode to an email. This would allow me to purchase and use splashtop for my around 10 users (some include customers) and 500+ computers. I am a Point of Sale dealership and 2 factor authentication is required for PSI DSS 3.0 guidlines. Also it's a security whole that the attached article has already named your business in as a security risk. This would need to be usable in splashtop business and to be honest ALL versions of splashtop

  • Yes I could use this also. Like logging on to a bank I want to a device or WP based app that would ensure I am the only one who can log in and have access to lots of customers computers safely!

  • An absolute MUST in today's day and age!  Need this one on the top burner of requests please!

  • This is definitely a needed feature. Without it, its only a matter of time before your account gets compromised.  I purchased the business version but I am scared to use it on my clients because of Credit Card data breaches.

  • Google's 2 factor authentication works well with other products so shouldn't be too difficult to introduce as an option

  • Yes, another request. Two-factor when you're dealing with remote access is a must-have.

  • Splashtop business is a very powerful tool that needs to be secured with 2 factor authentication.  Please enable 2FA ASAP!

  • @all,

I have forwarded your request to the development team, they are still evaluating. For now there is no plan adding this yet.

  • In reviewing SplashTop the 2 factor authentication is the only thing keeping us from going with ST. Very impressed with the development ST has done with adding the Terminal Server support. We will definitely keep watching.

    Thanks

  • Two-factor authentication would be a definite improvement, and a product feature that would attract savvy users to Splashtop. I recently purchased a Splashtop Business subscription, and am somewhat surprised that two-factor can not be enabled for a business account.

  • I see a number of requests for the two factor authentication but no response from support since September 2015.  What is the current status of this much needed feature?  Should we all move onto looking at other options?

  • I have talked with several people in Splashtop's management team and I get the impression that there's great interest in adding this. Hopefully they will update everyone soon.

  • @all,

Sorry for the late response. This is planned and we will support 2FA by end of Q2.

  • Please use something like Duo Security or the Oath protocol and not something obscure or custom.

  • @Ken,

Just like we mentioned above, we still target by end of Q2 to support this.

  • It would be awesome if you could support authentication software and hardware like google's Authenticator and Fido uf2

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en

    https://www.yubico.com/products/yubikey-hardware/fido-u2f-security-key/

Text messages are fine but they are somewhat vulnerable.

  • I think with the prevalence of hacking and what is going on with Teamviewer this week 2FA should be made a higher priority. https://www.reddit.com/r/teamviewer

  • Definitely. I'm trialing Splashtop Business but if 2FA is not part of the suite it will make it harder to propose Splashtop as a TeamViewer replacement.

  • @all,

Our 2FA is in testing stages now and should roll out in about a month.

At launch, we'll be supporting the following authenticator apps (no SMS/voice yet):

    Google Authenticator (Android/iPhone/BlackBerry)
    Duo Mobile (Android/iPhone)
    Amazon AWS MFA (Android)
    Authenticator (Windows Phone 7)

    Cheers,
    Phil

  • Now that 2fa is available can we expect an updated Windows 10 app anytime soon? It can't be used because it doesn't support 2fa.
