QuickSupport

I am doing the 7 day trial, looking for a replacement for TeamViewer. The thing I really need is a run once quick support applet I can drop on my website. if I have someone that needs help, they can click on the link, the user gets the 'Run' box, they click run and I am on. No questions asked. When I disconnect, I cannot get back to that PC unless the user clicks on the link and runs the applet again. The applet is created with the same sort of deployment builder you currently have. The nice thing would be to allow me to drop my logo in and the applet would be preassigned to my account only. Maybe you already have something like this but I didn't seen it. --Ed

  • @all,

We're working on an attended support solution, where your customer can simply download and run a program to give you remote access via a session code. There will be no installation required. At the end of the support session, your customer simply quits the program to terminate further access.

We're hoping to have this by end of the year.

  • @Info,

It is already in internal testing stage, we still target to have this available before the end of the year.

  • It has been released but get ready to pay, I'm sure most of the people here figured it would be included in their current subscriptions, not an additional $100 subscription.

-1 for this not being included with our business subscription.

  • @Robbiebott,

You do use Splashtop Business client (one single app) to support both attended and unattended, except that our pricing model is separate... because some customers have told us that they want only unattended.

Some want only attended.  We price aggressively where even when buying both, still much cheaper than LogMeIn Rescue (Central) and Teamviewer.

  • $60 a year is a no brainer. But if we have to pay extra for features, we are chipping away at what may, or may not, make since.

So you are saying that its going to be $160 a year for the basic business + quick support? I have about a half dozen PCs I have to manage. The other 700 could leverage QS. I don't know about LogMeIn, but you are right that TeamViewer is more expensive, but that's not a fair comparison. If I buy TV, its a one time cost and I own it. You don't have to upgrade or pay extra each year. I have an older version of TV now. I was wanting to move away from it, but right now, there is still a fair amount of times I cant connect to a server running SP and have to use TV instead. I just don't know...

  • I could see both being in the $100 range but $160 a little much $120 is pushing it. How about bundling discounts for people who are subscribed to both services? I've started the trial but it's still a hard pill to swallow and presently I'm leaning towards not taking that pill.

  • @Esippel,

TV is not a subscription model, but it will charge for major version change, for example, from TV10 to TV11, and they have one major version per year as I know.

As for the can't connect issue, could I know the name of the culprit computers so I could help accordingly?

    @Robbiebott,

As for the discount, I think it makes sense but I can't decide. Please you could mail to our sales by the email address below, they will have better answer for you.

  • The first three clients I sent to sos.splashtop.com all came back telling me it wants them to try of buy, and asking what they should do.
So with it being three for three something isn’t working, sos.splashtop.com needs to be a directions page, not a sells/try page. Being as though we are paying for this and it isn’t something you have included with our business or etc package sos.splashtop.com needs to be a dedicated place for us to send our clients with directions not a place of you to sell products, and cause confusion.
After visiting the page my self there is absolutely no indication of whats going on or what is happening or will happen there is no indication that a file has started or will start downloading, just a place for you to sell products.
It needs to include, something stating that a file should be downloading, and go from there with it.

  • @Robbiebott,

Yes we agree and we also received similar feedback these days. The dev team is working on modifying the page. Thank you for the suggestion!

  • When is this going to be available for the mobile app. I do a lot of support from my phone.

  • I also need it on the mobile app for the occasional call. Most of my clients get added to my splashtop account, and I do think SOS should be free or very cheap when used only to help get a client added to an existing subscription. Something like 30 free uses per month for business subscribers would be awesome.

If the account holder isn't using it more than once a day for a few mins at a time, you know they aren't abusing the free trial / reduced cost access, but if it helps them out even in a few cases, they'll be much more inclined to add it to their subscription.

In fact, the SOS free trial period is (will eventually be) great for me even as Splashtop Business subscriber. I'd love it if there was a beta channel (maybe there is and I just don't know about it) for existing customers to help test & make recommendations on new features/products.

I've been doing a trial of SOS and haven't had any success yet with the end user loading it on their side. I tried it myself a few times and about half the time got it working after a while. It's definitely not at the point where I would pay extra for it, but I'm eager to see how it works a couple versions from now when it's a bit more refined.

  • @Daniel I think for Business subscribers allowing "x" free SOS uses per month is a great idea.

@Support Got that one down to turn into Phil and the rest of the crew?

    +1

  • @Daniel,

Could I know more details about the issue that you sometimes can't establish a remote session using SOS product? We did not receive similar reports recently and I would like to help address the root cause and resolve it.

    @Daniel & Robbiebott,

Sure I will forward the suggestion about price model to Phil and the team.

  • @Support,

The first few times I downloaded and ran it, it took 3+ minutes for the application to open. It happened at least once on a windows 10 PC and also on a couple of iMacs running Yosemite. It seemed like the program refused to open initially, now that I think of it possibly Avast Antivirus was scanning as it was a new program the computers had never seen. All of them run Avast Business Security 2015.

Once I was able to open the application, then I was able to start a remote session without much delay..

When I tried last month, I don't think the site looked like it does now. I remember having to hunt for the download as others mentioned in this thread. The first time I tried to use it was with a customer in her mid 70s and she had no chance of navigating the website. When I manually ran it on her computer in person later to test, it was hard to find and slow to open once downloaded.

    Thanks for following up.

  • @Daniel,

Yes we changed the SOS download page so it is more user friendly, we hope you like the current design.

As for the opening application delay, we also think it might be related to Avast Antivirus. Is there a whitelist list in Avast so you could add the trusted application? Maybe it could reduce the scanning time.

  • I do very much like the design today, I think it will be much easier for end users to use.

I could whitelist Splashtop in Avast, except I only need SOS on computers I don't already manage, so I can't adjust the whitelist until after SOS loads.

Also I just remembered the Win10 PC had Symantec Antivirus before I got into it, which could actually account for every problem I encountered (I'm not a fan of that AV).

I'm not using Splashtop in enterprise or heavily managed environments yet but I will surely whitelist it anywhere I'm able to as I go forward.
