Disconnect current session from a different device

I would like to see the option to disconnect a session in progress from a device different than the one the session was started on. I have on occasion started a session to one of my servers while art my desk using my Windows computer. I then get called away on a service run elsewhere and i take my iPad with me. While at the service call, i decide i need to remove into the same server as above. Currently all we get is the message about there already being a session in progress, and the only option is "Ok". At this point, give me another button that will allow me to log that session out and connect from where i am now. ***************************************************************************************************************************************

We all know that, yes, you can disconnect the session from the web interface, but that is a pain when you are logged in with the utility and run into the issue.  You have to go out and start a browser, go to thew site, log in, then end the session, pain in the behind!

  • Please add a normal reboot, force reboot, reset reboot and safe mode reboot option to the web drop down list.  Command Prompt shell would be nice too, along with the ability to see resources / stop-start services without taking full desktop remote control.  Thanks!

  • @Acacandy,

Where did you find the option? Remote disconnect feature only works on the web portal at this time.

  • At the web portal. There was not an option to disconnect. But, when I tried to log into it, I received a message that said the computer was already in session.

I had a  person at the location, so I had the computer rebooted, am connected now, and now there is an option to disconnect. So, it seems the issue was, I was "NOT" connected, but when trying to connect, the program "thought" it was connected????? Strange.

  • @Acacandy,

There should be an issue which should have been fixed using 3.0.4.5 streamer.

If it still happens using 3.0.4.5, please help collect splog.txt at below path on the culprit computer and let us know the time stamp you saw the issue, we will work with the engineering team to address the issue:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Splashtop\Splashtop Remote\Server\log

    Thank you.

  • Thank you, that explains it. Once I was logged in yesterday, I did check all my machines for the version number of streamer. This was the only machine that was running 3.0.4.4 - and I updated to 3.0.4.5 immediately.

    Hopefully, mission accomplished.

  • I only signed up for streamer yesterday. It was fine while I was trying it for myself, but now I have the rest of our team on there we have just realised that you can only make one remote control session to a machine at a time. Using our previous teamviewer software two or even three techs could all connect to the same customers machine at the same time to look at a problem.

I am guessing it is impossible for this to happen on streamer? If so its a great shame as it would be the only thing stopping us using it to replace teamviewer.

  • Rob, this is a different issue you have than the post subject, "Disconnect from another machine".  You might try using Migoko portable (free) to invite other tech's in.  Its a great product similar to WebX, but the portable version doesn't leave a footprint (Other than in AppData Userland)  Join.me could work for you too.  I think you could disconnect the Splashtop session if you wanted to, the other tech's would still be connected by Migoko or Join.me.  Just make sure the last tech out closes the door :)  Oh, by the way, casual use of both products are free.

  • I have this same "your computer is currently in another Splashtop session" with one of my customers.  I have uninstalled the streamer from their PC and no change.  This is ridiculous.  I am a brand new user to Splashtop and this does NOT bode well.  I, and they are fully updated.  Any help appreciated.  Thanks

  • @Support.

    Sorry for the issue.

Could you please help collect splog.txt at below path on the customer's computer?
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Splashtop\Splashtop Remote\Server\log

    Thanks!

  • It would also be nice if you would include the DEVICE NAME that is currently in the Splashtop session

  • @all,

I would like to be more clear about what we target to release for the end of April since there are not only one request/issue reported in this thread, we don't want to mislead you :)

    1. The "disconnect current session" function has been available for some time. You could disconnect an alive session. This feature is only on the web portal, not on the app.

    2. Get the "In another session" warning message which is not true, the target computer is not in a session. This is an issue which should be fixed using 3.0.8.x that will be available before the end of April.

    3. Remote reboot is still under development.

    Hope this helps!

  • I don't see the option to disconnect in the web portal.   Where will I find this, please?

  • Therobdamiani, click on the wheel to the right. Of course, you have to be connected to one computer to see the option.
