Mouse text cursor on dark background

I have the Windows dark theme enabled, which means that most of my programs now use a black background. Windows automatically inverts the colours of my mouse’s text cursor (the I-beam), so that on a black background, the cursor is white. (Windows Mail is a great example of this.).

When I connect through Splashtop, it doesn't invert the colours, and continues to use the default black cursor for Windows Mail, and other dark themed programs, making it almost impossible to see that text cursor most of the time.

This should be corrected to invert it’s colour correctly, so I don't have to struggle to find my text cursor all the time.

  • I have the same issue.  All of the cursors invert properly except for the I-beam.  I'm not sure that it's a Splashtop issue though because it also happened when I used TeamViewer.

  • I have the same problem.   It's really annoying when using with a text editor and not being able to see the pointer so you can select a word or place to edit.  This is a major issue.

  • Thank you all for this thread. I was having the "disappearing I-beam" problem and it was driving me bonkers. I had different Windows 10 themes on my host and client PCs, but when I changed to them both to the default Windows 10 theme the problem went away. Your mention of the "dark theme" was the clue I needed. Thank you!

  • Jonathan Hunsicker, this is not a fix.  I have always had the same issue using Splashtop.  I should be able to see the I-beam cursor regardless of the theme I use.  Especially, since this is not an issue with other similar services like TeamViewer or even RDP.

  • Yeah this is super annoying. I only use splashtop at night. All my text editors use dark themes. If your going to replace the cursor at least pick the invert mode one so it doesnt matter what theme is used.
