Short cut keys opening when trying to type text

When typing emails, etc while connected through Splashtop, shortcut commands were opening. for example, when typing the letter "r' the run command box would pop open, "t" and MS Teams would open, 'o' and something else would open. yet, when typing when connected through Office 365 i did not have that issue. Really frustrating and nonproductive til i figured out what was happening. i even rebooted with no change.
