Remote System is Always "Active Now"

Within the past few weeks we have a remote system that always reports the User Activity as "Active now" no matter how long it has been idle.

We aren't certain whether this began when we updated the streamer to 3.5.0.2 or when the user unfortunately allowed Microsoft to install Windows 11 on the previously Win 10 system.  Reverting to Win 10 is no longer an option.

  • A registry change is needed to fix this

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Splashtop Inc.\Splashtop Remote Server

    Registry key: UserIdleMethod

    Registry type: REG_DWORD

    Registry value: 1

I wrote these commands to ADD the Registry entry and then restart the service to take effect:

    REG ADD "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Splashtop Inc.\Splashtop Remote Server" /v UserIdleMethod /t REG_DWORD /d 1 & Net Stop SplashtopRemoteService & Net Start SplashtopRemoteService

I use 1-to-Many Actions to push these commands out to computers I have upgraded to Windows 1 remotely.
