As part of Splashtop’s security enhancements, we will be retiring support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 at the end of September 2025. TLS 1.0/1.1 use outdated encryption methods that lack crucial protections and are vulnerable to attacks.
To ensure your remote connections continue to work after this change, please review the below requirements.
1. Older Operating Systems No Longer Supported
Connections from the following operating systems will stop working after TLS 1.0/1.1 retirement:
- Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003, Server 2008 R1
(More details: Deprecation of Support for Windows XP/Vista/Server 2003/2008 R1) - Mac OS X 10.9 (Maverick) and earlier
- Although OS X 10.10 supports TLS 1.2, it's unable to connect to Splashtop servers due to disabling weak ciphers.
- Android 4 and earlier
2. Endpoints That Require an Update
For the following operating systems, TLS 1.2 (or higher) will still be supported, but Splashtop software must be updated to continue functioning:
- Windows 7
- Windows 8, 8.1
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Windows Server 2012 R1/R2
Action Needed
- Splashtop Streamer: Update to version 3.7.4.x or newer
- Splashtop Business App: Update to version 3.7.4.x or newer
If your endpoints are not updated, Splashtop connections may fail once TLS 1.0/1.1 is retired.
3. Alternative options for older operating systems
Splashtop Enterprise with Connector
(Requires installing a Connector agent on the same network as the older operating systems)Splashtop On-prem service
(Requires installing a gateway agent)
