Overview:
We now have two stacks accounts can be a part of--
- Global: our original database where account information is stored
- Physical database is located in the US
- EU: our new database, where users in Europe can have their account information siloed and housed in Europe
- Physical database is located in Germany
To find out which stack you're currently on, please see our article here.
What operating systems are compatible?
Our EU database and infrastructure restrict access to TLS 1.2, so cannot access older systems that don't support TLS 1.2. These include Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, MacOS 10.7 Lion and 10.8 Mountain Lion, and Android 4.0. Those systems are supported only for accounts on the Global stack.
Otherwise, all of the operating systems listed in our system requirements article or downloads page are supported on the EU stack.
Can I switch between stacks?
We cannot switch accounts back and forth. We can help you switch to the EU stack if you're located in Europe, currently on the Global stack, and need to switch due to local data governance regulations.
Please note that both the Global and EU stacks use the same Splashtop relay servers, so performance will not be affected by switching from one to the other.
How to switch:
Email addresses are used as the unique identifier for an account. Email addresses are unique globally in our system, so if an email address is used on a Global account, it cannot be used for an account on EU at the same time, and vice versa.
To switch, you'll first need to delete the old account. To do so:
- Log into the web console (my.splashtop.com or my.splashtop.eu).
- Hover over your name in the top, right hand corner --> Account info.
- Click the "Delete my account" link.
- Create an account on the other stack
-
If you're located in Europe and currently subscribed to the Global stack, subscribe at my.splashtop.eu or begin a trial.
-
If you're located in Europe, currently subscribed to the EU stack, and and want to switch to the Global stack, please contact Splashtop support for assistance.
-
Note: If you need to switch before your current subscription is up, please contact our Customer Support Team to assist.
A note for SOS usage:
Currently, the SOS client is stack-specific. This means, if your account is on the Global stack, please have the user you're connecting to download the SOS app from sos.splashtop.com. If your account is on the EU stack, please have the user download the SOS app from sos.splashtop.eu
