Logging into the streamer on Windows 7 machines

To enhance the security of Splashtop remote sessions, our service certificates are generated using SHA-256 (SHA-2 256) encryption.

Please note that older operating systems such as Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are no longer supported. To ensure compatibility with SHA-256 certificates, the minimum supported operating system is Windows 7.

If you are using Windows 7, please make sure of the following:

  • The system is fully updated with the latest Windows Updates.

  • All required root certificates and security patches are installed.

After confirming the above, please follow the steps below to import the certificate into your system:

Please download the latest updated cert from here: https://certs.godaddy.com/repository/gd_bundle_dv-r1-g2.crt.pem

  • Press Windows + R, type mmc, press Enter.

  • In the console, go to File → Add/Remove Snap-in.

  • Select Certificates, click Add, choose Computer account, then Local Computer, click Finish.

  • Expand Trusted Root Certification Authorities → Certificates.
  • Right-click → All Tasks → Import.

Browse to your .pem file, select it, click Next.

Ensure it’s placed in Trusted Root Certification Authorities, click Next → Finish.
