How to allow remote access on macOS

MacOS requires you to grant certain permissions in order for the Splashtop Streamer to work properly.
This article gives an overview of which permissions to grant on various macOS versions.

Note 1 : These security settings cannot be configured remotely - you must change these settings locally before being able to establish a remote session.

Note 2 : Most of these settings only apply to the user account on which they are granted. If you have multiple user accounts on a device, you will need to grant permissions on each one.

On macOS 10.10 Yosemite - 13.0 Ventura, the following permissions need to be granted:

System Preferences / Security & Privacy / Privacy.

Certain permissions are not available on versions prior to macOS 10.15 e.g. "Screen Recording".

On macOS 14.0 Sonoma - 15.0 Sequoia, the permissions required are as followed:

Additionally, you will get his popup if you did not grant the "Remote Desktop" permission.
Not allowing it causes a black screen in remote sessions:

We recommend granting the "Remote Desktop" permission for the Splashtop Streamer in the Privacy & Security settings to avoid these monthly popups.

In the Streamer, there is a helper in the top-right corner.
You can click it to get an overview of all the necessary permissions:sequoia4_en-us.png

For our attended access, the SOS app requires similar permissions and will pop up a helper upon the first remote session.

For the business app, the permission "Files and Folders" is necessary to use our file transfer feature.

Note 3: Users have reported that unchecking and rechecking the permissions can fix certain issues with the access.
