Automatic Splashtop streamer updates

Splashtop streamer is the agent software that is installed on the computers that you remotely access.

Automatic, silent updates

If you have at least 3.1.0.0 streamer version or later, the streamer application will automatically and silently update itself, based on a progressive algorithm.  When we release a new update, ~3% of the computers will update to the new version on the first week, ~30% will update to the new version by the 2nd week, and almost 100% will update by the end of the 3rd week.

Note: If a computer is not logged in with an account or is on the locked screen, the update will not occur until it is logged in - mainly affects servers.

Manually update

From the web console, my.splashtop.com:

  1. View the computer's Properties (from the Computers tab > gear icon)
  2. If the computer is not updated, you can click the Update button:

  3. The computer will update the next time it comes online and is logged into. If the computer is already online and logged into, it will update on the next heartbeat (about every hour).

From the Business App, starting v3.5.6.0 or newer:

  1. Click the computer's gear icon
  2. Click the Update button

From the Splashtop Streamer:

  1. Open the streamer program on the computer
  2. Click on the About tab
  3. Click on "Check for Updates" and follow the steps

OR

  1. Remote into the computer whose streamer you'd like to update.
  2. On that computer, download the latest Splashtop streamer. The easiest place may be www.splashtop.com. There's a "Download Streamer" button in the top-right corner.
  3. Run the installer. That's it!

All of your previous settings will be carried over. Your remote session will disconnect after update starts. It may take a minute or two for the update to complete. After update completes, that computer should be online and remotely accessible again.
