Install the Streamer application on computers you want to remotely access

The Streamer is an app that needs to be installed on any computer that you are trying to remotely access. There are multiple methods of getting the Streamer application.

Note: If the "Add Computer" button or "Management" tab is missing in Methods 1 and 2, then your team owner has not allowed members to add computers. You will need to contact the team owner for the shareable link to download the Streamer.

Access Permissions

For methods 1-3, when the computer is added to the account, it will be set to "Admin Access only". You can find instructions for changing access permissions here.

  • If you are the team owner, you will need to change the access settings so that your members can access the computer.
  • If you are a member of a team and trying to add your computer, it will not show up in the Business app due to the above reason. You will need to contact your team owner or admin to change the access settings for you.

For method 4, when the computer is added to the account, it will be set to "Self access", so only the user who logged in on the Streamer will be able to access it. Only the logged in user will be able to change the access permissions for the computer.

Method 1 - Deployment Streamer through "Add Computer" button

1. Log into your account at my.splashtop.com

2. Click on the "Add Computer" button at the top left

Method 4 - Login Streamer

The Login Streamer can only be used with Business Access Solo and Pro subscriptions. The download can be found here:

2. Enter in your Splashtop email and password to log in and add the computer to the account.

Note: With this method, if you change your email or password, the credentials in the Streamer will become invalid, so you'll need to re-enter in the credentials in the Streamer to add it back to the account.

Method 5 - .msi Installer

Aside from our .exe Streamer installer, we also offer a .msi installer as well. The .msi works similar to the .exe, but on some occasions you might want to try out our .msi. For example, if the .exe installer isn't working on your computer, it might be a good idea to give the .msi a try.

Below are the steps to take if you want to install our Streamer using the .msi installer.

Log in to your my.splashtop.com and head over to Management -> Deployment:

Click on the green Deploy button of the package you want to use as picture below:

You will be taken to a page that has two different options for installing the Streamer. Please go to Option 2 and click on the drop down list and select one of two options for the MSI download:

Once it's downloaded, run the installer like you normally would.

After downloading the Streamer using one of the above methods, locate the Streamer file. Usually, the Streamer will be automatically downloaded to the Downloads folder. Open the install file and follow the prompts on screen to complete the installation. After the install has completed, the Streamer will open automatically and ask you to grant access. Hit "Confirm" to finish the process and the computer will be automatically added to the computer.

Note: if you see no computers after installing the Streamer, check to see if the Streamer is showing the error: "Unable to connect to Splashtop Servers". If the error is present, view our article here to troubleshoot.

If you were invited to a team and are a member, please contact your team owner or admin to give you access to the added computer, otherwise you may see an empty computer list, as shown below. You can refer to the Access Permissions section above.
