Performance Options

With v3520 or later Splashtop apps and streamer, we will fully take advantage of your GPU on local and remote devices to achieve the optimal performance during Splashtop remote sessions.

Requirements

Windows:

  • Splashtop Business app v3.5.2.0 or later
  • Splashtop Streamer v3.5.2.0 or later

Mac:

  • Splashtop Business app v3.5.2.0 or later
  • Splashtop Streamer v3.5.2.0 or later

Supported version of iOS and Android apps are coming soon.

Default options

  • By default our endpoints will turn on hardware acceleration (the original Advanced Architecture) if possible so you can experience the best performance during a remote session. You do not to click any option to enable this.
  • By default on session toolbar you will have a Performance Status option to observe your performance in current remote session.

Extra Performance Options

Available with Splashtop Business Access Pro, Splashtop Business Access Performance, Splashtop Remote Support Premium, Splashtop Enterprise, and Splashtop SOS product lines (Splashtop SOS basic, plus, teams, unlimited).

Note:

H265 and 444 color are available only with certain products (Splashtop Business Access Performance and Splashtop Enterprise).

H265

  • Open the Splashtop Business App, open the Files dropdown then go to Options / Advanced tab. (Or Splashtop Business dropdown then go to Preference / Advanced tab if on a Mac)

  • Check the option to enable H265 (vs. H264) video compression. Ideally it provides the benefit either using same quality but smaller bandwidth or consuming the same bandwidth but better quality. Still it will depend on your hardware to decide how much the benefit it will have.

Requirements:

FPS options (Ultra high option)

  1. Open the Splashtop Business App, open the Files dropdown then go to Options / Advanced tab. (Or Splashtop Business dropdown then go to Preference / Advanced tab if on a Mac)

  2. You can configure the default FPS settings (up to Ultra High which is 60 FPS) for all your remote connections.

Profile options - General profiles

  1. Open the Splashtop Business App, open the Files dropdown then go to Options / Advanced tab. (Or Splashtop Business dropdown then go to Preference / Advanced tab if on a Mac)

  2. You can configure the default Profile settings for all your remote connections.
    • Best Quality: Use this option when your hardware/internet resource is good enough to maintain a high-quality remote session. For the remote session itself, we suggest 10MBps internet download/upload speeds and a minimum of the video hardware listed below, as well as the latest driver for the hardware.
      NVIDIA : GeForce GTX 1050 / 1050 Ti
AMD : Radeon Rx 300 series (Volcanic Islands)
      INTEL : HD graphics 500 series (Skylake - CPU 6000 series )

You would also need to consider the bandwidth and hardware resources that other applications are using during the remote session.
    • Original: Default option.
    • Best Speed: Use this option on a limited network environment, e.g., the upload of your remote device has 1 or 2 Mbps or less internet speed. (You can check your current internet speed by visiting https://www.speedtest.net/.)

Note:

Once you change the Profile setting in a session from the session toolbar, the change will be saved for all the remote sessions to the same remote computer moving forward.

Profile options - 4:4:4 Color
Splashtop remote sessions use the standard 4:2:0 color (chroma) subsampling by default. 4:4:4 color contains more color information per pixel, delivering the highest image quality and color accuracy over your remote session. Without any compression or subsampling, 4:4:4 color provides a true representation of color with sharp contrasts and fine details. Select Best Quality (with YUV 444 option) to enable this setting.
YUV444_1.png

Requirements:

The Best Quality (with YUV 444 option) may consume 2-4 Mbps more bandwidth depending on your network speed and bandwidth.

Note:

  • With H265 turned on, YUV 444 will only work if you have NVIDIA GTX 1050 or above graphic on the streamer side computer
(See compatibility: NVidia Encode and Decode GPU Support Matrix)
  • If you select this option but are not using a supported NVIDIA graphics card, software decoding will be used instead, which will still provide more accurate color clarity but reduced performance/fps.

How to use:

1. Click on View Options within session toolbar

2. Select Best Quality (with YUV 444 support)

Note:

We offer a Legacy Compatible mode option; however, we do not suggest checking this option only if you have any issues (if so, we will suggest you can contact Splashtop Support) during the remote session after upgrading to 3520, e.g. black screen, worse performance, etc.
