If you will be using one of the following features of the Splashtop app, please remember to install our Virtual Driver, and then re-start your computer after this driver is installed.
- If you want to connect your tablet or phone to your Mac when it is in a logged-off state:
The Virtual Driver makes it possible for you to connect to your Mac even though it's in a logged-off status. Then you can type the password for your "Mac user account" from your tablet or phone directly to log in again. Please be aware that you will get a disconnection during the process of logging in to your computer, but you can re-connect again a couple of minutes later, after your Mac has completed all log-in processes. - If you want to connect to a headless Mac running macOS 10.12 or older, like the Mac mini, you need to have our Virtual Driver installed. However, the Virtual Driver is NOT needed on macOS 10.13+.
- If you want to use the "Blank Screen" feature on your Mac so that others cannot see what you are doing on the remote computer, you need to install the Virtual Driver.
- If you want to connect your tablet or phone to a Mac that is in Display Sleep mode (on Lion and Mountain Lion), you also need to have our Virtual Driver installed first.
To install the Splashtop Virtual Driver:
Launch the Mac Streamer. Then, in the Settings tab of the Mac Streamer dialog box, select the Install Driver button.
NOTE: If you have already installed the Virtual Driver, the button will be labelled Uninstall Driver.
