Does Splashtop work in safe mode?

Follow

Splashtop does NOT work in safe mode on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Splashtop does work in safe mode for Windows 7 and higher and Windows Server 2008 and higher.

This means the Splashtop streamer can auto-launch in safe mode. If network is available, a remote session can also be established to it.

Update 8/9/2016:

We expect to roll out remote reboot (via web console) within 3 months.

In the meantime, here's a great suggestion from a fellow user. (Thank you Gsteph2008!)

"As I stated on May 22nd (under my jackson-computers previous login), you can utilize Safe Mode with Network & even on XP. It is a minor inconvenience to go into MSCONFIG (Boot Tab) & temporarily check the Safe Mode & Network boxes & then uncheck them when finished to go back into Normal Mode. This will allow you to use Safe Mode until the Splashtop Developers finish their development & give you an 'easy button'. I have been with Splashtop for a long time & have seen a major improvement. Have patience everyone, & in the meantime do use Splashtop in Safe Mode with the MSCONFIG method."

It would be good to have the "Shutdown / restart / restart in safe mode" ability built in to Splashtop. This should have been a standard requirement from the very start.

Are there plans for this in the near future?

    @ Info,

Yes this is planned. Although we don't yet have a committed schedule for it.

Restart in Safe Mode is essential to remote servicing, especially some malware removal.

I´m migrating from a competitor app and the only downside so far is the lack of "Shutdown / restart / restart in safe mode"

I must say that there are many upsides, though.

I didn't  discover your software until a few days before my LogMeIn Central renewal subscription expired because I refused to pay the high price over last year to renewal price for 250 computers.

I find everything that you offer to be great except for the file transfer is a little awkward to work with. But I did not have that feature in LogMeIn Central I can live with it.

The thing that is almost impossible to live without is the ability to reboot in safe mode or just to reboot period.

This feature should have been implemented before file transfer because most of the people that use this type of software have other ways to transfer files but we desperately need to be able to reboot a computer into safe mode in order to offer technical support.

If you offer a beta program for new features please sign me up.

    Thanks

Indeed, reboot to safemode from the ADMIN CONSOLE WEBSITE page is a much needed feature for remote support when malware is involved.

I have been rebooting into safe mode with networking easily for the past year. Just go into MSCONFIG & go to the Boot Tab & check Safe Mode & also check Network, & as long as Splashtop is set to 'Auto Launch', you will be able to utilize Safe Mode with Networking with Splashtop. When you are done in Safe Mode, make sure you go back into MSCONFIG & uncheck Safe Mode to enable Normal Mode.

It is now July 31 2016.... Where is the feature for Rebooting in Safe Mode??... If you want to be in the Remote Support Software business,... then, you better get all the features in your software that are needed by IT techs.... This thread has been active for 7 months now... what is the holdup? Should I expect future updates to your software to be this slow as well?... looking around now to other software possibilities.

Apologies to all for the delay.

Remote reboot (via web console) is committed on our roadmap. We expect to roll it out within 3 months.

We've been working on auto update for Splashtop streamer and that has pushed back the other items on our roadmap. We're in the testing stage of auto update now and hope to roll out auto update in a month.

    Cheers,

    Phil

Gsteph's suggestion about using MSCONFIG should really be edited into the original article for those who don't read all the comments - I was just expecting to find nothing but complaints in the comments, but Gsteph's suggestion works easy-peasy while waiting for integration.

Just had a major lockup with my keyboard not working on a locked screen. Huge issue that I can't restart my computer remotely. Going back to LogMeIn until this gets added to Splashtop.
