Customize the Default Streamer Settings for Deployment

You can customize the default streamer settings that are used when you deploy the streamer out to your users and computers. This way, there's no need to manually configure the settings after installation.

Customizing streamer settings is part of the process of creating a streamer deployment package.

When you click on the Create Deployment Package button (web console > Management > Deployment), you will see all of the options you can customize.

When this deployment package (deployable streamer plus 12-digit deployment code) is installed on a computer, the streamer on the computer will default to your specified settings.

Potential uses of deployment package options

  • Create a deployment package for each of your client businesses. Set a computer naming rule so that all of the computers in the same business are automatically named after that business.
    • (New) Import LogMeIn Central computer description: If the computer already has LMI installed, the streamer can use the same computer description as the computer name.
  • Select an existing preference policy or create a new one.
  • Choose the naming rule for your remote computers:
    • If you tick the option "Keep in sync OS hostname", whenever the remote computer's hostname changes, the name will be reflected on Splashtop.
      • How to rename your computer?
Win: Go to Settings > System > About and click the Rename this PC button
Mac: Select the Apple menu > System Settings > click General in the sidebar > click About on the right > Type a new name in the Name field
    • For Android devices, we supported device information that can be used as a custom name.
Refer to this support article for more information.
When streamer receives any of these patterns, it'll try to get corresponding values from the current device and use them as streamer's default name, for example:
      • %DEVICE%: Device name
      • %MANUFACTURER%: Manufacturer name
      • %BRAND%: Brand name
      • %MODEL%: Model name
      • %PRODUCT%: Product name
      • %IMEI%: Device IMEI
  • Turn off auto-launch of streamer, for businesses that prefer to manually start the streamer only when computer support is needed.
  • Automatically disconnect an inactive session over a certain amount of minutes.
  • Hide the streamer tray icon, to prevent end users from tampering with the streamer.
  • Enable/Disable direct connections when connecting over the same network.
  • Require the Windows/Mac logic credentials of the computer before connecting.
  • Enforce additional security measures such as prompting for user permission before connecting, locking the computer upon connecting, or locking the computer after a session ends.
  • Lock streamer setting using Splashtop admin credentials, so the streamer settings will be locked and can only be unlocked by admins on your Splashtop Business team.
  • Enable the Blank Screen feature during connections.
  • Maintain user privacy by not directing sound to the remote device.
