Printing from remote Windows to your local computer
Remote Windows 10:
Please make sure Splashtop Streamer is v3.4.0.0 or newer.
- Establish a remote session to the remote Windows 10 computer.
- On the remote computer, open any application and print as you normally would. In the print dialog box, choose Splashtop PDF Remote Printer and click Print.
- In a few seconds, a print dialog box will pop up on the local computer (where your Splashtop Business app is running). Choose the desired local printer and hit Print. That's it!
- If having any issues printing, please follow the steps below. (Other Windows versions)
Other Windows versions:
- Open Splashtop Streamer, go to the Settings tab, and click on Install Printer Driver.
Note: you may need to disconnect and reconnect if making these changes through a Splashtop connection for the driver to take effect. - After installing the driver, disconnect and reestablish a remote session to the computer. There will be a Splashtop Remote Printer which you could choose to print from.
- If printing to a local Mac, you will need to install an XPS reader on the local Mac. You can search for "XPS reader" in the Mac App Store to see various choices.

Why am I getting an "Unsupported Printer Format" error?
If you are getting the following error "Unsupported Printer Format: The printer format used by the remote computer is not readable on this computer":
Some additional software will be required in order to print to your local printer.
Get the error on a local Windows computer:
Be sure Adobe Acrobat PDF reader is installed on the local Windows computer and set as the default PDF reader.
You can download Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/
**Note: Other PDF readers can also work; Adobe Acrobat is just confirmed to work with our software.
Get the error on a local Mac
You will need to install an XPS reader on the local Mac. You can search for "XPS reader" in the Mac App Store to see various choices. We have noticed that Xps Viewer Lite tends to work best.
**Note: We cannot guarantee that using an XPS reader will function properly on your local Mac computer. It is recommended to utilize a PDF reader instead.

Nov 14, 2023:
Adobe has released an update which fixes the print window bug mentioned below. Please update your Adobe Reader application on both the local and remote computers, to use the New Acrobat interface with remote printing. The workaround is included below as reference.
